The Basic Novice team is for younger skaters who are new to synchronised competition. They will all be under 15 years of age and only a percentage of the skaters will have achieved the Preliminary test. The elements of the free skating program will contain minimum difficulty to give the skaters an achievable and fun music routine to perform.

A Basic Novice team must consist of at least 9 but not more than 16 skaters.
